Today Illinois hit #1 on the CMJ charts, only three weeks after it entered at #72. It bested The White Stripes, Coldplay and Gorillaz. To see the charts, click here.

Very exciting indeed! Jess at Fanatic Promotion tells me that the Boston date is ALMOST SOLD OUT (950 person capacity) and that Sufjan is having a "personal crisis" over his newfound fame. I hope he's alright...

he's debuted at number 4 on the billboard independant charts.

I hope his "personal crisis" is not too serious (jeff mangum anyone?) or better yet, not true at all. is this source reliable?

Jess is one of a few college radio reps at Fanatic promotion, the company that represents Sufjan Stevens and Asthmatic Kitty. She's in direct contact with the label. I'd say it's reliable.

It saddens me that Sufjan may be having a 'personal crisis.' But it saddens me even more than someone (Jess @ Fanatic) that works for him is spreading personal gossip about him. She should at least be reprimanded by her employers at Fanatic for this. There's no excuse for betraying the confidence of an artist that you work for.
